Dolphins head coach Stanley Eguma has ruled out an appeal over the dismissal of first choice goalkeeper Sunday Rotimi in the top flight match-day 20 3-1 win against Nasarawa United in Port Harcourt.

The experienced Nigerian shot stopper was dismissed after the centre referee adjudged him to have handled the ball outside his marked area.

Eguma said though the referee misjudged the goalkeeper’s sprint to deliberate ball handling they have taken the dismissal in good faith as a human error.

“We will not appeal the straight red card to goalkeeper Sunday Rotimi. The incident is behind us same as the game itself.

“The referee is human, sometimes you make mistake. Rotimi did not deserve the red card,” said the former Nigeria’s Under-23 team coach to supersport.com.

Eguma however praised his wards for their strong performance in the encounter against Nasarawa United.

“Of course, it’s quite painful to see Dolphins down the ladder but heartwarming we started the second stanza well, it’s good for us.

“The players showed good character with one man short and a goal down to record a stunning 3-1 win.

“The hard fought victory is a sign that we will bounce back strongly to consistent winning form that will see us wriggle out of the danger zone,” said Eguma.

The victory takes Dolphins' total earnings to 20 points from a possible 60 in the 20-week Nigerian top flight.
