"Spectre," the 24th James Bond movie, hits theaters in fall 2015, more than 50 years after the first film in the popular series, "Dr. No." "Spectre" stars Daniel Craig as 007, with turns from Christoph Waltz, Monica Bellucci, Lea Seydoux and Ralph Fiennes. Look back at highlights of the character's career, including the Bond girls and villains:

After filming the new James Bond movie "Spectre," due to be released in London Monday, lead actor Daniel Craig was asked in an interview how he'd feel about appearing in another movie in the franchise.

Sean Connery plays James Bond with Ursula Andress as Honey Ryder in 1962's "Dr. No," the film that launched the franchise.

Connery rehearses a scene from the James Bond Film "From Russia With Love" with the Italian actress Daniela Bianchi playing Tatiana Romanova, while director Terence Young helps the actors.

"Now? I'd rather break this glass and slash my wrists," he told Time Out. "I'm over it at the moment. We're done. All I want to do is move on."

Whether Craig was finally exhausted by the intense eight-month shoot, or the painful knee surgery he underwent during filming, "Spectre" looks likely to be his fourth and last Bond film.

And with the end of an era looming and a bloated budget reportedly exceeding $300 million, expectations for the film among fans are bigger than ever.
