iReporter Network correspondent gathered that some gunmen, suspected to be armed robbers, have reportedly kidnapped a school principal at Ivbiaro, in Owan East Local Government Area of Edo state.
It was gathered that the man, identified as Mr. Afekhai, was abducted by the gunmen during an operation on Auchi-Warrake road on Wednesday morning.
Afekhai, who was said to be the Principal of Ivbiaro Secondary School, was reportedly forced to stop his car, when he ran into them.
The robbers were said to have barricaded the road with his vehicle, on sighting an on-coming Army vehicle, and fled into the bush with their victim.
It was learnt that the principal’s family had been contacted by his abductors, who reportedly demanded ransom to secure his release.
But when contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Osifo Abiodun, told our correspondent to call back, as he was not in a position to speak on the incident, at the time of filing the report.
